Problems:

--> Only about 50% of metals, such as aluminum, are recycled

--> Irresponsible disposal of metals

--> Unnecessary Mining (leads to greenhouse emissions)

Solutions:

--> Recycling : beverage cans, coat hangers, small metals, large metals, old appliances, cars

--> Saves energy: Aluminum cans are 100% recyclable. They reduce energy needed to produce new cans (instead of recycling old ones). Recycling steel saves 75% of the nergy that it would take to create new steel.

Fun facts:

--> Recycling one aluminum can saves enough energy to run a television for 3 hours

--> Aluminum can be recycled almost immediately

--> Americans discard 460,000 tons of foil in 2010

--> Americans are far more likely to recycle aluminum cans over aluminum foil

--> You can recycle aluminum foil too!

--> During WWII, Americans recycled a lot of aluminum, even the aluminum in gum wrappers!

-->Aluminam cans are easily recycled, but over 460,000 tons of it go unrecycled annually.
